While the animation is great, what you would expect and more, there are a few problems I had with the film which keep it from being as good as his last few films, Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away.

Well, I saw it twice already and I enjoy the magical feeling of it, however... The problems are the feelings of recycled ideas. It also drags at points then moves too fast at other times. Luckily I saw it in it's original Japanese form and I didn't have to suffer through shutter Billy Crystal as Calcifer. I give it a thumbs up.

While I saw it only in Japanese too and thought it was wonderful, I couldn't help but think, "God... he should've just stopped at Spirited Away, it was a good place to end at." I don't know if anyone else knows what I mean, but I just felt more at peace by saying, "Yes, Spirited Away is the end of Miyazaki's masterpieces; it broke box office records, won fantastic awards, and had a spectacular combination of western and eastern influences in it." I felt full. But for some reason after watching Howl there's this "... he better make another one before he quits to fix that one" feeling.

Still overall a tremendous movie.

I've been fangirling over this movie since I first heard about it. I LOVE the book howls moving castle.

I have to admit it was a good movie.. but it wasn't as true to the book as I would have liked. It left out soo much stuff.

though on its own I enjoyed it.. thought I'm not sure I would have understood what was going on at parts with out reading the book first.
