Not so much.

The result isn't, by any means, bad... just different.

The film is beautiful portrait of Chicago in winter. It has some of the most awesome cinematography I've seen in awhile, especially for a film dealing with Real Life and one that avoids submitting to artsy pretension. Nicolas Cage and Micheal Caine are awesome and perfectly suited for their roles; their scenes together are great. I also very much enjoyed the score (Hans Zimmer); it's quirky and it fits.

The dialogue, unlike the plot, is very well indicated by the trailer. Cage's voice over is well worth the movie ticket.

I just very much enjoyed the 'everyday beauty' feel to the film. It's not a remarkable story about remarkable people; it's very laid back, and that's why I liked it.

When I saw the trailer, I thought it was going to be similiar in feel to "The Family Man", also starring Cage. Maybe that mixed in with a "Life as a House" plotline (father decides to change in order to save/unite family). Am I correct in this assumption?

For comparison, I hated the Family Man.

I haven't seen Life as a House, but... I don't think it's the same thing.

I thought it sucked horribly... ended up walking out near the end... and I saw it for free... first free movie I ever walked out of, my rule is.. since I see it for free might as well finish it... but this movie had nothing.. it droned on... had a horrible plot.. and I felt like nothing came of the movie... it just seemed bland.. it's hard to be interested in the story of someones everyday life when we have our own, and see others all the time

I'm planning on seeing it with my friend later this week. It seems like something I'd like from what I've read. Maybe I should go check a trailer or two. :X

The movie was good, but it left me feeling sort of hollow. It really does reflect upong the fact that sometimes things don't go the way you want them to. I liked it~

I enjoyed it as well. It was a nice turn of events when I saw it. I've neer seen this "The Family Man" movie you speak of so I can not compare it to anything.
