Spin-off idea: Watchers decide that they made a mistake helping Walter, so they go back in time and instead save the original Peter. However, Peter from the other universe manages to stumble his way through, and the two Peters go on crazy hijinks together! Show name? Pete & Pete.

It was a good episode.

However, the ending? Frustrating as fuck. Dude, Walter, you can't speak up for yourself? You can't speak a few words to save your relationship with your son? You deserve to have him walk out, then.

That isn't his son, logically and scientifically - the way that both Bishop men think - they know this. Given that, it was perfectly in character for Walter. The man didn't want to kidnap Peter in the first place - he was talked into it by his wife, who later succumbed to her guilt over it. He was accepting responsibility and the consequences of his actions, however much it pained him. To do anything else would be selfish.

Good episode. Terrible CG at the beginning there, especially when compared to the good old practical effects for the gestating shapeshifter in the lab. CG should really really be the last resort. I'd rather see them hint around and not show something directly than whatever that crap was.

Dude, Walter raised him as his son for how many years? He's like Walter's adopted son. You don't diss adopted parents as somehow being less important than the child's biological parents.

You're also missing the most important part: That Walter essentially STOLE him. From his old family, from his old life, everything. Walter's been living with that guilt for years, and there's really nothing he could have said to make it "OK."

There's a fine line between "adopting" and "kidnapping from another reality".

Oh wait, no, it's actually a pretty bold line. But that's already been pointed out.

In last night's episode did anyone notice The Observer using a Sonic Screwdriver to cut people open?

I don't even know, I spent the whole episode going "what is going ooon". =( I just wanted the real episode to start. I guess this was a nice little stylized interlude.

Bad episode was bad.

Seriously, this could have actually been a good episode, but instead it was really lame and had no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Massive disappointment.

I thought the episode was a sweet and amusing interlude and the ending was a nice surprise and sure to bring a lot of action with the next episode.

I respect your opinion, but I disagree!

It wasn't engaging, it had about two funny moments in the beginning of the episode, the music was entirely out of place, the plot was shallow and weak, and it altogether failed to impress me in any respect.

You seem to forget that Walter is telling a story (which he's not very good at to begin with) AND he's high on some crazy science weed that he made himself. Of course the music was entirely out of place. lol. For me, this just added a little more emotional depth to Walter's character.

I also almost forgot that most things fail to impress you! lol

I'm about halfway through it now and loving it so far, but it's hard to say if that's because it's a good episode or if it's because I love noir detective stories (even disjointed ones told by a mad scientist who is baked out of his skull).

Yeah, yeah, okay. Seriously "the storyteller is high" just isn't a good enough excuse for me to overcome the poor narrative. They could have dealt with it in a good, responsible way rather than using it as an excuse for a bad story.

I love noir detective stories, too, but let me tell you... Real noir detective stories are written much more snappily than this one. For evidence, I submit "The Big Sleep" and "The Maltese Falcon".

How the fuck are there no posts about the last episode?!

The episode was good in most regards, but nothing amazing, that is until the end. What an excellent reveal, and way to put everything into context. This whole thing was straight up Walter vs Walter the whole time. Walternate (as Walter calls him) is behind all of the shapeshifters, and everything else we've seen, simply to get his son back.

I absolutely love this show.

I do like it, but then I was also kind of expecting it. I can't remember where I heard the theory that Walternate was behind it all because he wanted to get his son back, but it made total sense. Now I just can't wait until the next episode because it looked like some serious shit was about to happen.
