I don't want to admit it AND I am a little late to the game here BUT I am loving the Hunger Game series!

Also: The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey which is based on an old Russian/Alaskan folktale about a girl made out of love from snow. It is beautiful, sad, but magical. Loved this book!

Yes. It ruled. Infinite Jest is amazing and you should totally read it now!

I have read it! I want to reread it.

I'm reading Urth of the New Sun, the sequel-slash-continuation, which is pretty good but I dunno if I'll count it as essential when I inevitably reread BotNS at some point in the future.

The Edgar Rice Burroughs one right? John Carter? I tried that one, got like the first few chapters in, and just couldn't do it. I really want to try again someday, but this is the first time I've just given up on a book.

I was well into 2666 when I lost my copy to a particularly savage rainstorm. I adored it but at this point it was so long ago that I'd owe it to the book to start at the beginning, and I just haven't yet had the emotional reserve to take the deep breath and dive back in.
PS: Part of me is afraid to start again, as I got far enough in to convince myself that I am not capable of dying until I've finished it.
