I'm reading the fifth in Stephen King's Dark Tower series, Wolves of the Calla.

I'm also reading Maximum Ride: the Angel Experiment by James Patterson. I can barely stand it because it's soooooo youth reading, but I'm going to finish it to spite someone who basically dared me to read it.

It's a history/civ textbook, and most of the info is rehashed stuff from high school and before, but occasionally I find a new tidbit of info. One of these days I'll start reading for fun again.

Oh and here's the opening line.

"The woman pushed on the baby's stomach and sucked its penis into her mouth; it was thinner than the American menthols she smoked and a bit slimy, like raw fish."

The City and the City, by China Mieville - one of my favorite authors. So far I seem to be against the grain in that I don't think it's his best work; The Scar still holds that place in my heart. :x

I do this, finish books for spite. Someone recommended a Clive Cussler book to me, whatever the newest one is, I forget the name. But God, it was ridiculous. The characters were stiff, no physical descriptions and they spoke in clipped cliches. It was unbearable. But I finished the damn thing out of sheer stubbornness.

A little over halfway through The Fiery Cross by Diana Gabaldon. I sailed through the first books but this one is kinda slow.

I didn't read this one, but the next one, Breath of Snow and Ashes, is pretty good. The last one, Echo in the Bone, is awesome.
PS: Ok, you guys, I'm about halfway through A Game of Thrones.

Why the fuck have I never read this before???? It is NOTHING like what I expected. I am impressed by how much I love the story. A lot of it is reminiscent of Feist's Riftwar Saga to me, which is good. I don't know what I expected, but I always assumed this was more a parody and cheesy as hell. Pleasantly surprised and ordering the others so I don't have to break the flow.
