Gen. Chat “Getting small! (OB not-quite-so-fat thread)” by A Study in PinkA Study in Pink 3 years ago on 01/19/10 Equipped: Home Pregnancy Test named "I'm going to name him Xantar II" So... I joined a gym this morning. The YMCA to be exact. This will be the first time I have worked out since freshman year of college.
What the hell was the other thread about before it got deleted? I don't think I ever read it. Fushichou 3 years ago on 01/19/10 Equipped: Automail Arm named "Fleshlight" Does your Y offer a range of classes like Spin, Yoga, Step, Pilates, etc...? When I was at the Y, I never really got into taking classes, with the one exception being Spin. Great cardio and the instructor's constant chatter combined with the music played made the time fly by faster. Izeekial 3 years ago on 01/19/10 Equipped: Vash's Gun named "Vash's Gun is way smaller than my guns" The other thread was more or less about getting leaner like your thread. Actually, I think all the threads are more about getting leaner than huge, but this is a good idea to set the two apart. Good luck with your training! fukkake 3 years ago on 01/19/10 Equipped: Cockblast of Vengence named "Crotchfire!" I just joined a gym (LA Fitness) to be exact and plan on toning up and getting a tad bit smaller!
Classes I plan on taking: - Cardio Kickboxing - Aquatics - Body Plan & Abs Amanda 3 years ago on 01/19/10 Equipped: Comfy Pillow There's a capeoira studio on the bottom floor of my apartment building and I'm considering signing up for a class. Does anyone here know anything about the discipline and how crazy/crappy/awesome it is? Put A Bird On It! 3 years ago on 01/19/10 Equipped: N00dz of Sephiroth named "(meow)" I get out of work too late to take any classes, but I've been taking advantage of my company's free 24-hour employee gym for awhile now. Unfortunately whenever I finally lose weight I always get off track and gain it back over a month or 2, but I'm taking it easier this time so hopefully it will go better.
My plan is to work out and diet a bit less intensely than I was before, which means that I'm losing weight slower but it will hopefully be easier to maintain. Soon I should have lost all the weight I want to and can ease up a bit more, and then I'll go less on the cardio and fat burning and more on the weights. motherhoodlum 3 years ago on 01/19/10 Equipped: N00dz of Bonk named "fuzzy luv" I've been trying for a while to lose weight, and for some reason the increase in stress has drastically helped. But I have a gym membership and do cardio plus a strength building excercise 3 times a week. A Study in Pink 3 years ago on 01/19/10 Equipped: Home Pregnancy Test named "I'm going to name him Xantar II" Our Y has a bajillion classes and I am going to try to take yoga in the morning and then spin in the evening. Spin class is the stupidest shit, riding bikes together, but it gives me a reason to leave work. They also have pilates... I might try that in a few weeks but I don't want to overdo it for now.
They have this crazy computer program that writes up your weekly routines for you. It mixes up the types of machines and exercises you do so you don't get bored, which is super nice. I'm thinking about getting a PT just to keep me on track. My goal for now is to just drop some weight and get some nicer abs so I can cosplay Yoko for acen... only a few months away so I have to start now! City Councilman Doug 3 years ago on 01/19/10 Equipped: Keys to the Pussy Wagon named "My name is Buck, and I came to cook duck." There is a Planet Fitness near my place. $19.99 a month and no start-up fee.
Has anyone had any experience with Planet Fitness? I'm thinking this might be a good way to beat the winter pounds. Vlak 3 years ago on 01/19/10 Equipped: Menchi Loaf named "Who's a furry ration?! Yes you are!" Since I don't have to drive 20 minutes to work every morning this semester, I've started going to fencing practice on weekday afternoons in addition to weekends. At this rate, I hope to get back to where I was before I broke my ankle by spring (pending no more injuries) Cognac Jack 3 years ago on 01/19/10 Equipped: Magical Chicken Hat #2 named "I wub chickinz" If I am trying to loose weight and get muscle can I post in both? A Study in Pink 3 years ago on 01/19/10 Equipped: Home Pregnancy Test named "I'm going to name him Xantar II" I guess? xxxholic 3 years ago on 01/19/10 Equipped: Ramune Bottle Broken From Frustration named "How about I cut your ass, bitch?" LeeChan said: I know a couple of people who go to Planet Fitness and they are happy with it. The only drawback is that they don't many classes. However, they do have plenty of cardio machines and strength training equipment. You would also probably get one free session with a PT to show you how too use everything and help you develop a plan. Imo, if you don't mind that they don't have classes definitely go for it! motherhoodlum 3 years ago on 01/19/10 Equipped: N00dz of Bonk named "fuzzy luv" yea, I noticed when I first signed up for a trainer, it was really only to serve the purpose of getting a regimen started. After she developed my workout, I had no reason to continue paying her an extra $40 per month. tachikoma 3 years ago on 01/19/10 Equipped: Leg Upgrade: "High Jump Boots" named "JumpJump Boots" Oh man. Flunked my weigh in today (+6 lbs), and lost a lot of muscle over break. :( I have a little over a month to lose the extra pounds so I don't get bumped into the next weight class.
Any good dieting tips? I've heard a lot about carb restriction... etc... One by my house has virtually NO free weights while another has an OK selection. I say it's a great place to get started and from there you can figure it out. Corey Hart 3 years ago on 01/19/10 Equipped: Tear-stained Emo Poetry by Ramses named "Sad you the boss up" Not to be a know-it-all or anything but gaining muscle is a really great way to burn more fat. So maybe you guys should consider doing more than just cardiocardiocardio all the time! I like it because I don't feel too gross afterward because I was in water, so thus not as sweaty. I hear the Cardio Kickboxing is fun and awesome. The Yoga classes they have at LA Fitness is nice, too, because it's for all levels. DO NOT DO CYCLING. It will feel like you've been raped afterward, holy shit, I just don't even... The guy who instructed that class told me that if i come at least 3 times a week, it won't hurt me anymore, it'd just get numb. I actually like having feeling in my vagina area, so that's a no-go for me. Classes at gyms are great because I have such a short attention span, and I find it's hard to stay focused doing something on my own and just jumping from one machine/thing to another. Classes are like having your own instructor/trainer, AND it's free! I definitely have to get back into going again. Now that I've quit smoking, I can't wait to see how my lung capacity has improved. Maybe I won't get as winded anymore and my heart rate won't go through the roof in such a small amount of time. | Geek dating and social networking for awesome people.OtakuBooty is where smart, funny, sexy nerds meet.
