my new employer has a mini farmer's market come by from April to December. I'm not sure if they do a CSA, but if they do, I am totally in.

Meg told me months ago to use http://www.localharvest.org/ to check for CSA locations. Worked like a charm.

You could always make soup, sauce or something with the veggies and freeze 'em!

So jealous of you guys living in an area that allows for year round harvest of fresh veggies and fruit.

Matthew and I have already talked about and agreed upon doing a CSA this upcoming year. We're also going to try and grow as much as we can ourselves. A few places around Columbus offer up meat and eggs as part of their CSA. We're really excited to support something local (and tasty).

I totally am joining one as we speak! It's $23 a week, I can skip weeks if I want, and I can ask for things like local honey, cheese, extra fruit, and bread. I am so stoked about this, because buying fresh fruit and veggies even at Food Lion is WAY more expensive!

I pick up my first box on 1/17! I can't wait!

I joined www.papaspuds.com instead of the CSA I mention previously because of the following reasons:

-$18/box instead of $23/box
-I can put my shit on hold if I want so I can skip weeks
-I can pick and choose what I want to go in my box! This week's featured arugula, broccoli, sweet potatoes, kale, an elephant garlic, fresh sage, and 16 oz of wildflower honey. Basically, for each box you get credits, and you can swap items out depending on how many credits you have. You can totally buy more credits too! If ever you don't use your full credits, they roll over for six months.
-They don't just have produce, they have honey, dairy products, meat (I am drooling over the chorizo), coffee, jams, salsa, dog treats, artisan breads, and eggs.

I'm thinking what I might do is load up on veggies/fruits one week and do meat/dairy/miscellaneous stuff the alternating weeks. I just ate a sandwich with arugula on it for lunch, and last night I mashed the sweet potatoes with turnips and some of the fresh sage plus some other spices and it turned out delicious.

I'm either really old or I'm a huge dork for being so excited about this!

Found one in Los Angeles that doesn't deliver, but for $17/box I could care less.

So excited to start work and stop eating like a broke kid all the time.

My family has participated in a CSA for nearly 20 years, Roxbury Farms in Columbia County NY. They deliver all over eastern New York! They have vegetables, meat, eggs, and fruit shares that you can buy. I grew up eating food from this farm and I would love to be able to start buying a share again soon, they deliver to NYC, but I cant really afford it at this time, which is a bummer.

It'll be great once I get an extra $17/week going on the regular.

I might just call one in for next week because that is not a lot of money for a lot of awesome veggies.
