Oh, you poor, misguided, narrow-minded soul.

I have one word for you.

Bell's.

I'm willing to be enlightened, but I see my snobbery as quite justified.

I am a huge fan of Hoppy beer. I love my Pale Ales and IPAs. I have been drinking Hop Stoopid by Lagunitas Brewing company and Raging Bitch by Flying Dog breweries most recently, Also Stormcloud by Rahr Breweries here in Ft. Worth.

The Ommegang Brewery from Cooperstown New York puts out some pretty great Belgian beer.

Rare Vos and my favorite The Three Philosophers.

Fuck yes Three Philosophers.

I'm a big fan of Dogfish IPAs their Raison D'etre, and that shit you broke out at BC, Dai. A couple friends and myself are aging some Dogfish 120s that should be ready to crack in...2018 I think?

Today, I drank a Newcastle Brown Ale that I've had since BC '08.

I'm glad I decided to wait until I actually got into liking beer because it was absolutely fantastic.

I've only really gotten into beer in the last year or so, and I'm really bummed out that the summer is almost over and Wachusett Blueberry isn't going to be on tap everywhere anymore.

however, I'm going to be using this thread as a shopping list for the coming fall. Dogfish Head and New Holland have both already been recommended to me and are totally going to be mine next paycheck.

Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale's in at my bar, and it qualifies as a free after-worker. Summer's over, bitch.

Old Rasputin Imperial Stout. I'm not a big fan of dark beer, but a buddy gave me a couple bottles to make pudding with (I love making beer pudding). I had a couple drinks of it and it was AWESOME.

I didn't like it that much (and I'm a weyerbacher faggot to the hardcore extreme).

It was TOO much. The beer was too thick, too much nutmeg and spice and not enough pumpkin. And it's WAY WAY WAY alcoholy.

Ol' Raspy is one of my favorite beers! Definitely my favorite Russian imperial. I'd be the one guy at my bar drinking it in the middle of summer. Now I miss it, thanks.
PS: Thanks for the recipe, too! Dunno if I'll ever be able to make it (if I get my hands on those bottles, I'll probably just end up drinking them) but I'm definitely gonna hang on to it.

I'm not a hardcore beer lover, but goddamn I can't stop drinking the Sweetwater Sch'Wheat brew. They had it at Fox Bros. BBQ when we took people there for Dragoncon and I think I made a few converts.

I picked up a six of Schlafly's pumpkin ale and their Oktoberfest this weekend. The pumpkin ale was surprisingly good. Normally I'm not a fan. The Oktoberfest was much better though. My current favorite is Old Engine Oil, from Harviestoun Brewery.

If I'm out at a bar though I'll usually just stick to Guinness, or Smithwicks.

I almost picked up a pack of Founder's Nemesis, but having never tried it before the price of $20 seemed a little steep. Anyone ever had this? Worth the cash?

I'm kind of lucky as I live in one of what I would call the big five brewing nations and live within a short train or plane journey of three others (Belgium, Czech Republic & Germany) but sadly live thousands of miles away from the fifth which is obviously America.

We get what we can get over here from the States but so far Dogfish, Goose Island, Great Divide (Titan IPA OMFG) and Anchor Steam are the big hits over here. The Great British Beer Festival hosted by CAMRA counted a large increase in the number of American real ales. Something like over 150+ on top of the 500+ British brews on offer over the weekend.

Smuttynose brewery's Big A IPA in the end won the Michael Jackson Award for American Cask Beer while Castle Rock's Harvest Pale won the prestigeous headline Champion Beer of Britain award.

Anyway my beer collection so far:

I would have had more St Austells and Cairngorm Trade Winds but I drunk that. The bottle I'm holding is Cantillon which insists that it is "100% Lambic Bio". Silly Belgians.

I grabbed a bottle of Three Philosophers due to a recommendation here, I just remembered the name and nothing else. Whoa! Didn't realize this was that heavy. Almost 10% daaamn. Nice though, reminds me a bit of one of my favorite barley wine due to the slight cherry note.

The Poo I brewed from BC2k8 was based off of an Old Rasputin clone recipe, and then I added espresso to it.

I haven't been trying many new beers lately, just sticking to my regular standbys: New Belgium Trippel and Deschutes Inversion IPA. I'm looking forward to Barleywines and some of the strong ales that come out in the fall.

Pumpkin Ale time!

I just picked up some generic Jack's Spicy Pumpkin or whatever from Michelob, and Doghead's Punkin Ale. Gonna use 'em for maybe a beer-glazed spice cake, or a pumpkiny German Chocolate cake. I'm told the Jack's is darker and spicier, so I'll probably use that for the cake and the Doghead for the glaze and cake swirls.

Another cheer for Ommegang! I've never had a beer of theirs that I didn't like.

Also, Allagash. Just one reason why I love my local bar: one night they had Allagash Quad for $4 a glass. Oh, how drunk we got, and deliciously so.
