To be fair, Lancaster hasn't really come into their own, that I've noticed, until the past year or three.

My new favorite is a combo of Wells Banana Bread Beer and Young's Double Chocolate Stout. With their powers combined, they are Captain Delicious.

Young's Double Chocolate Stout was my first stout tried after my "DRINK MORE STOUTS AND PORTERS" New Year's Resolution. I haven't turned back!

Going to the World Beer Fest: Raleigh in a few weeks and I am super stoked to try all the fine beers they will have to offer! Four hours worth of beers!

All of the (few) barley wines I've tried have given me epic, splitting headaches.

I usually don't get headaches too terribly from drinking.

I finally got to try Delirium Tremens. It was worth the "You're a fucking Yankee fan aren't you" spiel from the horrible waiter

Try the Delirium Nocturnum, which is Tremens' triple-fermented, darker brother (though they have the same ABV). Personally I prefer it to Tremens, though they're both fantastic. Delirium Noel/Christmas is also good but obviously seasonal. La Guillotine is another favorite of mine from Huyghe.

Can we talk mead in here too? I've yet to have one and I want to get a simple mead to introduce me to the base taste of "honey wine."

Mmm love mead. There's actually a local meadery here called B. Nektar. I'm glad cause I get privy to going to their meadery when they release a new mead. Actually I have a bottle of their "chocolate raspberry love" that was bottled in 2009. They also make a mean orange blossom mead.

So yes nurv, we can talk some mead!

If you haven't tried Schlitz as of late, you need too. They went back to the original 1960's style recipe, which does not taste like garbage water. Give it a try...unless you got no balls. You got balls don't you OB?

Raspberry Ale from Dark Horse is bloody good. Just sweet enough, with some hoppy character. But I need suggestions right now, trying to find a good sour ale lately, specifically a Flander's Red style. Anyone got suggestions? Otherwise, I'm going straight to some lambics

I've really liked Rodenbach in the past when I've had it. Also New Belgium La Folie is pretty good. I've seen Duchesse De Bourgogne around quite a bit, it's pretty highly rated but have never tried it myself.

I had BJ's Dubbel called "Abbey Normal" (http://www.bjsbrewhouse.com/bj-beers/beers/bjs-abbey-normal) which was really good. I've never had a Belgian of that color (SRM like 18-19).

It's blowing my mind that a lot of the local breweries are getting solid nationwide distribution now!

Right now (and always) I'm digging on Oskar Blues Mama's Little Yella Pils and it got me into IPAs after long enough drinking it. For the longest time I couldn't take the bitterness but now I can appreciate a full flavor profile and a nice bouquet.

I've started to notice good pairings too. For example, a good lemony Hefeweizen or bright Wit is pretty much the greatest thing with fresh oysters.

Drank the best cider I've ever experienced last night: "Honey Crispin" from Crispin Cider in MN. It was hot last night so that may had a hand in how great this cider was to me.

Ooh, haven't tried that one! My cider stalwart is Hardcore, but it's not easy to find around here.

(Although one distributor nearish me sells Ace ciders by the case, so I GUESS I could console myself with that...)
