Yes there definitely is a way. You simply choose the HDD drive as your install drive when installing. :D

What Gavin said. I am a firm believer of the OS being on it's own dedicated drive. I currently have the Diablo III Beta on a 750GB WD Black (my old OS drive). I now have a 60GB SSD, and it's about half full (only cause I fucked up and put all the iTunes content there that I purchased). Other than that, small apps, like browsers, IM Clients, Office, etc go on there. I installed Adobe Master Collection and other bulky app suites, along with my games on the 750GB drive.

This reminds me why I must thank Gavin for his wisdom. He told me "Lewis, you will regret gettin that 64 GIG SSD, GET the 120 GIG version". I did this, and must say, Gavin was dead on RIGHT!!

With a quick look on Newegg I can see that

120GB drives are between $124-2$50

128GB SSD drives are currently $149-$254

256GB drives are between $304-$499

some 60GB drives are starting at $84

I don't have a SSD but if I did I would put all my important programs that i use daily on it including anything Adobe.

I'm not sure how well gaming performance is on those but it seems like it's negligible unless it's a on-line multiplayer game.

I love my SSD!! I haven't gamed much yet, but just on the web its great. Pages open up faster. ANd now when I do "alt+tab", no delay of computer for a few moments, its jus BAAM!!! over to the other program. I highly recommend getting an SSD. Just go at least 120 GIGS.

For Diablo III Beta? When you run the setup.exe it should show you a path that it will install to on the top of the screen.

Is this drive connected via USB or an actual external cradle meant to mimic an internal drive?

So I got a 120gb SSD the other day. Guy at the store said it came with mounting brackets. Absolutely did not.

Anyways, pardon the crude laptop track-pad ms-paint shit, but I need to figure out what mounting hardware I need to get a SSD screwed into where the other HDD (this case just screws into the drive itself. (not a good design I know)

OR can I just slap double sided tape onto the SSD and call it a day? No moving parts, no worries?

PS: oh and I can't use the 3.5 slot because the cables won't reach at the time and I'm too lazy to try and make that work.

your internal sata cable can be up to 3.3ft long so grab a longer one?

Oh, I am very experienced in this! Any of the following will work just fine.

a) Duct-tape that shit
or
b) Just screw one side of the SSD into the mounting brackets for the 3.5" drive. Probably only really works well if it's in the bottommost drive bracket, so that the bottom is resting on something and one side is secure.
or
c) That two-sided velcro tape works pretty well too if duct tape is a lil' ghetto
or
d) Just leave it hanging in mid air. Seriously. I mean, not the best idea, but not really a problem if it's a desktop machine that's not being moved around. As long as the SATA cable fits tightly enough.

The SSDs on OB's server are mounted with a little bit of (B) and a little bit of (C).

So, is that thing with Norton where it tells me which websites are safe any good? Or is that just BS too?

A wild guess, but maybe it doesn't like the fact that the drive is designated A:\

probably this because and I'm chuckling while i type this but I think even still today windows 7 reserves A: and B: for floppy drives or maybe now a days it's reversed for bootable usb drives.

I don't even know how you would get the OS to install on a drive labeled A:

A: is reserved for floppies, if you have it enabled in BIOS. I don't have a floppy installed, but I do have a floppy port on my board, and DO plug one in every now and then to move files off/on to that IBM

Ugh that's so stupid.

Okay, so, can I change the drive letter with no problems?
