This is one of those questions where Google's results are just overwhelming, since there are quite a few 360 models and there is an overwhelming amount of totally misguided/incomprehensible advice from insane 14 year-olds.

So I'm hoping maybe somebody on here has experience!

It's one of the earlier HDMI models with 120GB from 2007. Not sure if it was the very first one with HDMI or the updated one that came out a bit later.

he high-pitched whine this thing makes drives me nuts. It's definitely the main fan(s) - I get the same noise even when the HDD is disconnected and the optical drive isn't spinning.

I'm not afraid of opening it up and changing a fan or something. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

hey i will make cam come in here and tell you exactly what he did but he tore his all apart and vacuumed it out and it made it a lot quieter!

i have a set of micro-vacuum parts for vacuuming out sewing machines, and it did the trick!

How many posts until someone seriously suggests getting a ps3 or water cooling?

My cousin put his 360 in the frezer and it dint make it quiter but it did get cold so maybe he overclocked it lmao! Anyway good luck i dunno about 360 fuck micro$oft

Either get an aftermarket fan mod, or just sound dampen the thing. Non-slim 360s are loud as fuck, so good luck.

Yeah do you have any specific hints? There are quite a few aftermarket fans and ways to mod and bleeeearrrrrggh.

I had to install DD-WRT just so I could use my router as a wireless bridge since my 260 doesn't have wireless, which is already about 100x more effort than I like to expect on vidja games.

A slim would be nice but I don't have the dough to spend.

Some versions contribute to RROD, others make even more noise.

Is it the actual fan itself that is making all the noise? Or is it the vibrations that the fan causes upon whatever the Xbox is sitting on? My 360 makes a lot of noise as well on my big metal 1950s era bomb-shelter desk, so I just placed a folded-up towel under it to muffle the vibrations.

There are actually two things making noise, the power supply can be stashed and put behind something to help as long as it still has air flow. The xbox itself however needs constant air so you can try building a compartment of air behind it using books or direct the noise so it doesn't bounce right off the wall and come back at you.

Oh I will make it quieter, we have a bat downstairs that will get the kinks RIGHT out.
