Otaku Chat “Games that you're running: A DM's Toolkit” by PravikunPravikun 16 months ago on 02/03/12 Equipped: Triforce named "The Triforce of Obsession, Depravity and Google-fu" I haven't see any threads kicking around that have a lot to do with role playing games, like D&D or WoD (new or old). And I find this to be sad. So sad that I am sad while standing in snow.
Thus to rectify this, and to talk to others, I make this thread. So OB people, tell me what games are you running, DMing, Storytelling, etc. Currently I myself am running a Vampire: The Masquerade game with 4 players, set in Calgary, Alberta and it is currently about April in the year 2011 in game. For those of you familiar with the metaplot of the World of Darkness, I am keeping most of it generally in tact. The whole big mess with the ending of the world and etc more of less happened. I even am keeping in that the Ravnos Antedeluvian rose up and nommed and was killed sending the Ravnos clan into horrible bad times. The fun part is that despite all of the signs and portents and events that lead everyone and their mother to believe that the end of days was upon them. It just never came to pass. Lots of bad and strange things happened and then...things just kind of slowly went back to normal and a lot of people in the know are waiting for the other shoe to drop, still. Enter Calgary, a true city of the night, the New York of Canada, the city that never sleeps. In order to make things a little more vampire friendly, since the city is dominated by the vampires, City Transit runs at night just on a less frequent schedule. Lots of businesses are open 24 hours. The city is Camarilla run, the prince is a Brujah who is actually more well spoken and intelligent than most vampires think a Brujah should be. He's not only got the independant clans with their own Primogen and a voice on the Council, he's also got the Anarchs of the city with their own primogen. And he'll listen to what they all have to say, he just reserves the right to ignore them. They are also in here causing trouble and trying to destroy the Camarilla vampires in Calgary, most specifically the Prince and those who support him. All of the player characters in my game, were all kidnapped and embraced by the Sabbat. They awoke crammed into a box van with a handful of other vampires, also just awakening and all starving. There were about 5 other van, equally crammed with newbie vamps, all equally starving. Right outside city hall, middle of down town. Naturally things went to hell and in the aftermath, only the 4 player characters survived.
One of the PC's, a Gangrel, botched his frenzy check twice. I had to hit him with a C-Train to end that fight. Anyways, they were given the chance to join the Camarilla and given mentors of their clans, they learned the ropes as it were, did a few jobs for the Prince to prove their worth and loyalty and boom, official induction into the Camarilla. Two Gangrel, one Brujah and one Assamite (He's kind of acting as a liason between the Assamite clan and the Camarilla. There's a treaty in place the Assamites have agreed to so they aren't wantonly killing and diablerizing vampires left right and center. Yet if they get a contract for a hit, the prince looks the other way where dialberie is concerned then.) The Sabbat haven't been quiet either, the big mess at city hall was a decoy to draw Camarilla attention away from the true Sabbat members who infiltrated the city and have set up a camp somewhere, from which they have been staging raids and kidnapping mortals and attacking vampires and wreaking havoc now and then. And no one in the Camarilla, even the Nosferatu and the Tremere, seem to be able to find them or their base. It's like they're invisible or something. That's the general overarching plot I have dropped the PC's into. I'm carefully layering hints and story hooks as we play as well, so that by now, in the fifth or sixth session, I have a nice backstory of things they've done that I can drawn on to make their lives hell. Mwahahaha. So how about you lot? Share! Let's trade tips so we can make our players even more miserable. tranoidnoki@buttmail.com 16 months ago on 02/03/12 Equipped: Embarassing Yaoi Fanfiction by LostDecoy named "The Adventures of Junun and Dio" This thread is now locked - replies are disabled. | Geek dating and social networking for awesome people.OtakuBooty is where smart, funny, sexy nerds meet.
