Otaku Chat “Silent Hill Downpour” by Remember Lommy GreenhandsRemember Lommy Greenhands 14 months ago on 03/24/12 Equipped: Bi Curi-O's Cereal named "skyknyt tested, exploding alex approved" Did the controls EVER update? Skewdles 14 months ago on 03/24/12 Equipped: Toothbrush named "Finn, Jake & The Jiggler's Toothbrush Dance" They added in some things, but it's still been pretty clunky even in newer things. Never been a strong point.
Like, I think all Homecoming added was like, "better" combat? It's been years since I touched it. Or got Downpour. Or tried out Shattered Memories. I mean...it's still SH1 & 2 but there's just so much wrong it's unbelievable. Especially after Konami knocked it out the park with the MGS Collection. Zordon 14 months ago on 03/31/12 Equipped: John Booty Plushy named "Queen of Poopflowers" Zach, those are the same links. Well, I am a few hours into the game and haven't really gotten to the meat of the story, but so far I am enjoying the visuals and environment. I can't really comment on story so far, but here are my thoughts on the general gameplay..
My main complaint is that it seems pretty easy to overlook items, especially since so many of those items are new, useless weapons like rocks and bottles. So it kinda trains you to assume there's nothing important in the area when you see something shiny on the ground. The first "nightmare scene" was pretty interesting. They're using some new and creative scare tactics and creepy environments rather than recycling old ones (which is what I felt Homecoming did, just kinda reused old stuff from previous games in an attempt to recreate the atmosphere). The usual clunky controls are there, and more than once I have accidentally thrown my weapon across the room. Some of the objectives are kinda... disconnected... not really sure if I am just missing stuff but for a few of them it feels like I haven't even sort of come close to the conclusion on my own of what I should be doing, the objective just appears and I am like... uh, ok... guess I am doing that then. Despite my few complaints I am enjoying the game so far. We'll see if that changes as I go further in. Remember Lommy Greenhands 13 months ago on 04/09/12 Equipped: Bi Curi-O's Cereal named "skyknyt tested, exploding alex approved" Do you like the sort of sandboxy nature of the game? I don't like sandbox games but this is the ONE town I would actually enjoy exploring. Allison 13 months ago on 04/09/12 Equipped: The Auryn named "The Neverending Fandom!" Yes and no. I like being able to wander around freely but the side quests stress me out. I feel that I NEED to finish all side quests and honestly it kinda ruins the atmosphere for me to be doing seemingly menial tasks. Remember Lommy Greenhands 13 months ago on 04/10/12 Equipped: Bi Curi-O's Cereal named "skyknyt tested, exploding alex approved" Yeah, that's a good way to describe my feelings on side quests in general. What do you get from them, like, ammo and shit? Do you go to cool places and see cool sights and witness cool events you wouldn't be able to otherwise? Or is it just there to pad out game time? Allison 13 months ago on 04/10/12 Updated: 13 months ago on 04/23/12 Equipped: The Auryn named "The Neverending Fandom!" So far it seems they do give you pieces of info you normally wouldn't have. For one, you get a slightly extended dreamlike sequence every time you find a piece of the puzzle. So, yeah.. I guess I want to do them all so I can see every little thing.. but I have already missed at least one of them cause I didn't do it in time. PS: hm. well. I liked it up until the end.
