I just want to say that you should never let anyone or anything stop you from doing what you want to do in life.
I started doing youtube just over a year ago and I couldn't be happier with my progress. You honestly never know what you can accomplish until you try doing something you absolutely love. For me that's making YouTube videos.
People will want you to fail.
You will fail.
You will make bad ideas and choices.
But you'll make good ideas and choices.
And all of that is okay. Because when you succeed, it feels so much more...fantastic, it's like nothing else. I've worked with talented people and made many new friends. Making big moves, getting more exposure.
I'm not trying to brag or say i'm better than anyone, cause I'm not. I make myself happy doing what I love, and I make others happy doing what I love. If you told me I'd be at this point last year, I'd tell you that you were crazy. I have fans. I have this one twitter fan that would probably molest me if I was alone in the same room with her. It's flattering as fuck.
I know it's cliche, but it rings true. Carpe that fucking diem. Do what makes you happy. This is becoming more than a hobby.
While you are sitting around, someone else is preparing to be better than you. And you can't let that happen.
Thanks for reading and I love you all,

I watched your latest video and it was like you were speaking Greek, except that I feel like the language I speak at least has roots in Greek and I'd be marginally more likely to understand Greek than I would whatever I just watched.
I'm proud of you!

Ak, I'm so glad you posted about this subject. First off, I remember when you just started doing this a year ago and how excited you were and I'm glad to see your passion is still strong and growing for this. Second, I can completely relate to this with quitting the office life (a job I did to make money) and now full time teaching yoga (a job I do because I love it).
So to me, "Follow your dreams" can also be "Follow your heart". The heart dreams while the mind thinks.
Also, for anyone thinking about making the step, if it scares you to follow through with something you really enjoy, it usually means your mind is trying to provide the "safe" route because it doesn't want to see you fail. Be stronger than your fear. Overcome it with courage and dedication to your passion. The only excuse you have is the one you provide yourself.

OB is the best thing I've ever done and it was most definitely a result of following my dreams! Go for it, Ak!

This is super-true. Well-said!
It's also really true for the people that care about you. A lot of people will discourage you from going after your dreams (even though they really, truly, honestly want you to be happy) because they want the "safe" thing for you.
I totally get it. In some ways, it's actually easier for you to chase your dreams than it is for them to watch you chase your dreams. Because when you're in the driver's seat, at least you have control.
Even though I understand where they're coming from, it really discourages me sometimes. I guess because it's a challenge I didn't really forsee at all.

This is a great thread, sir. I've been getting into the youtube thing lately, too, and it feels like an uphill battle quite often. This is an inspirational tale that Bards should sing about in pubs.
