Hey everyone,

So this time of year is when I do a lot of charity work in my community, mostly because while I don't have much myself, I always have way more than many people in my community. Even at my poorest, I've always had a roof over my head and the ability to put food on the table. I'm grateful for all of the support I have, both financial and emotional, and I always try to give back when I can.

I've been doing some research on how to do just a little extra, and I looked into my local Food Bank, the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. They have offices in both Durham and Raleigh. Unfortunately it's the last push before finals, so I don't really have time to give to them. But then I did some digging on their page and I saw something I can do.

Presenting Dommi's Holiday Virtual Food Drive: www.foodbankcenc.org/VFD_DommisHolidayDrive

My goal is only $150, so if thirty of us give $5 each, we'll have it reached in no time! With my $150, the Food Bank can provide 750 meals to people in need this holiday season!

So please, if you can and are willing to give, consider $5 to my food drive.

Oh the page doesn't work in Chrome, sorry. There's nothing that can be done about that.

Thanks for your time, everyone, and thank you in advance if you give!

I think the less fortunate among us should get real food instead of virtual food but I donated some anyway

I'll ignore the joke to just thank you for your donation! I'm almost halfway to my goal!
PS: If you're worried if this food bank is on the up and up, they have a 95% rating on Charity Navigator overall, with a 100% rating for their transparency. Your money will not be lining people's pockets, paying for marketing, or anything of the sort. Your money is going to give needy people food. I have $65 out of an $150 goal. If 17 more people give just $5 each, I'll reach my goal!

Goal reached!

Kinda surprised they don't cover Bladen County at all (going by the little map in their logo). That's one of the poorest counties in NC.

OH WOW THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'm so happy! They would have gotten the money whether my goal was reached or not, but I'm so happy it was actually reached!
PS: I think Bladen county may be covered by a different bank? I'm not sure since this one covers so much.

Maybe there's a Fayetteville-specific food bank that handles the city and surrounding suburbs? Bladen, Cumberland, Robeson, and Hoke all look like they're not covered by the CENC Food Bank. Pretty much all of Fayetteville's suburbs, so it fits. Just seemed like an odd little "hole" in their coverage. Some of my childhood summers involved the I-95 corridor in that region, so those areas aren't exactly foreign to me.

The Second Harvest Food Bank of Southeast North Carolina handles Fayetteville and its surrounding area! I just googled it! Never fear!
