So my current computer is coming up on 5-6 years old and is starting to die. I've already started gathering parts, but I'm undecided on the OS.

Windows 7 and 8 are the same price. I'm leaning toward getting 8, because it is supposed to be an upgrade in security and speed, but I'm concerned about usability.

After using it for several months, what are your impressions?

I just finished Garzey's Wing. I've come up with a few conclusions. First and foremost, I didn't have enough beer. Second, Garzey's Wing was terrible mostly for a plot that made no sense and lack of a resolution.

A giant glowing flashing goose flies through a guy and pulls his spirit through to another world, while his body is still conscious in the real world. A little fairy gets caught in his necklace on the way to this world, so she comes along for the ride, too. He arrives naked and is touted as some holy savior by a group of slaves because he can grow wings from his feet.

I'm sure there were others, but the one that stands out the most is the first Hellsing anime. Typical episode:

Bad guy: HAHAHA, I am crazy badass. Pew pew pew. You have been defeated.
Alucard: OHOHO, no, I have not been defeated. I am crazy badass. I laugh maniacally. See my crazy shadow powers.
Bad guy: OH NO. Shadow powers. I have been defeated.

No character had any depth and every fight was Alucard seemingly on the ropes, but sike, he's just fucking with them.

I'm okay with the way Barristan Selmy was revealed. What were we supposed to do? Realize that he was Barristan Selmy with a long beard for several episodes while waiting for the characters to catch up? The books can drag the reveal out because the readers can't see or hear the characters and figure it out easily.

I wouldn't consider it sloppy, since people do assign blame similarly in real life.
