Thanks for the heads-up! I usually don't keep track of XBox sales, and I picked up MGS HD! Though I'm sad it didn't come with MGS1. [addendum] Oh, wow. I really loved Guardian of Light.

I wish they'd make a sequel to it.

Honestly, I'm more excited about the ideas of a GPU that incorporates a CPU, rather than the other way around. I think it's a great idea, and I want to see where it goes.

I actually tried to make one of these in BASIC on a Commodore 64 back in middle school, too! I saved my program on a CASSETTE TAPE MOTHERFUCKERS. Yeah.

I got a good ways into it before I eventually just gave up.

Wow, I had just about given up on anyone actually being interested in this.

I used a compiler called Inform 7, which was both easy and difficult. It was easy because the Inform language is composed entirely of English words, with no weird programming nonsense. However, it was hard because despite using plain English, the syntax necessary to code in it is pretty unintuitive. For as much trouble as it was to learn, I feel like learning real code would have been just as difficult.

That said, I have learned it now, so I'll probably continue using it.

While I think anyone can learn it, I ...

So, I know that a bunch of you folks out there are pretty nerdy. Are you nerdy enough to like text adventure games? Because I wrote one.

The game is called "Trouble in the Workshop", and it's a quasi-Steampunk game where you play a scientist's assistant who's, well, in some trouble. This is not a simple game, and while it's no Zork, I'm still pretty proud of it.

There are three endings to this game, one good, one okay, and one bad. This game isn't yet for wide release, as I'm still trying to catch any last remaining bugs, so if you come across anything that isn't perfect, ple ...

what would really be awesome, is a refresh/update/whathaveyou of Link's Awakening, Oracle of Seasons, Oracle of Ages, and Minish Cap on the 3DS.

All four of those games were amazing, and are under-appreciated.

I mean, Windwaker was good. I definitely enjoyed it. However, practically every Zelda game since LttP has been better than the original Zelda. Even Majora's Mask, which is one that everyone seems to like to ignore.

I could even make a case that Zelda II was better than the original, even though that game was ridiculous.

...Did you really just call Windwaker the best Zelda since the original Legend of Zelda?

There are so many things wrong with that sentence that I don't even know where to start.

It was alright. This whole last season has been kind of a mess, despite really shining at times.

I'm glad the show was allowed to do it's full run up to a satisfying conclusion, and I'm sad to see it go. The show was a lot of fun, even on the bad episodes. I'm going to miss Walter Bishop, though not really any of the other characters.

So, I picked up Android: Netrunner because so many people have been talking about it and saying good things. I finally sat down tonight and played two games with a friend of mine.

Wow.

This is a really complicated card game, and extremely intimidating for people who aren't dedicated gaming geeks. It took us nearly an hour to figure out how to play the game, and that's not counting the first game that we totally fumbled through. Do not expect to just sit down and play this game without putting some serious time into it.

However, once we got the rules down (though we were still lookin ...

My housemates are girls, so when I was looking for a nerdy board game to get, I decided on Agricola. It looked fun and complex, but not inaccessible to people who aren't wild about sci-fi, fantasy, etc. I mean, it's about farming. If Farmville has proven anything, it's that farming is accessible to the average person.

So while it was reeeeeally complicated (ie, not really for amateur boardgamers), we all had a great time. The pieces were all pretty high-quality, and the girls loved the funny little wooden animal pieces.

All-told, I would recommend it to someone willing to sit down and le ...

I would just like to point out that The Binding of Isaac is on sale for like, $1.50 on Steam for the next 8 hours.

I loved the hell out of that game, and played it to 100% completion. Consider picking it up!

I enjoyed the Christmas episode! It was a little ridiculous, hearkening back to some of the reasons I've started to dislike recent Who, but overall it was well done.

I feel like this episode planted tons of seeds for the rest of the upcoming season, and I'm interested to see where they go with it. I've really, really loved this season so far, and I hope they don't mess it up. >_>

Why is that so surprising? After all, the west coast of the US is part of the Pacific rim, as is New Zealand.

While that's true, non-whites outnumber whites on the Pacific Rim something like 10:1.

So, I finished this game. The ending wasn't super great, but whatevs.

My late game strategy was to build a really tanky Assault class, and have her run into clusters of the enemy, run and gun style. Her shotgun shot would do a lot of damage, but her real job was to provide sight range for my two long-range snipers with double shot. Four plasma sniper shots in one turn was enough to turn either two or four enemies into goo, which usually assured my Assault's safety. If not, I had heavies and supports there to pick up the slack.

Using that strategy (or a variation thereof, depending on the ...

It may have nothing to do with straightforward vision problems, but may be because of things like astigmatism. Even so, I doubt it. It's probably purely an eye/brain connection thing, possibly crossing the inner ear in the process.
