Check this shit out! Kasey was just offered his first gallery show at a cafe/gallery in nearby Chapel Hill/Carrboro. He will have 20 of his photographs on display for sale! There will be 2 other artists showing and they're having a wine tasting and live music too. It's during their Art Walk and the gallery owner says it will be packed and to expect to sell prints.

Kasey got word that his first choice college, Warren Wilson, has awarded him what amounts to a full scholarship (he'd only have to pay $1,000 for the whole year). It's a pretty big deal private college (James Franco studied writing/poetry there) and we had all but moved on because it costs $38,000 a year.

The admissions counselor said it is the highest scholarship award she's ever seen. So very proud of him!

Not sure if this is relevant to anything but I noticed on my phone that the tabs at the top have changed and are more jumbled up than before. Before, the forum tabs were at the top in 2 rows and now they are in 3 rows. It's just a space chewer but doesn't mess with navigation in any way. Just FYI!

I really don't look into the political beliefs or personalities of every artist and I'm sure there are some real assholes that create things I enjoy. The only big difference with Card is that he is such a blatant asshole jerk of a person that it is difficult to not know what his beliefs are since he's so vocal about it. We've seen that it is possible to reboot a fandom and make it work (Battlestar Galactica for example) and I liked the first Trek reboot well enough. It was fresh and fun and opened Trek up to a whole new audience while giving just enough fan service to old school Trekkers to not alienate them. Setting it up as an alternate timeline fro the get go saved them a lot of whining.

But this new film is presumptuous as fuck. While I think Cumberbatch's casting is genius, that alone will not save this film.

This premiered in Australia and there are spoilers online if you care to look. Honestly, I went ahead and looked it up because I want to know if my assumptions are even remotely close and I know at least 2 people who are going to post spoilers online because they do it all the time, so instead of being pissed at them I'm going to save myself the trouble.
