I can see that. At first I was glad to see them because Trek did have many alien species throughout its run, but you do make a good point that this is supposedly way too early in Federation history to have so many aliens as part of a crew, or hell even at the Academy. This is one of those nitpicky things that Trek nerds notice. If it is like this only because it is an alternate timeline a line of dialogue somewhere to explain it would be great.

Yeah I actually thought about that but it was so early in the movie and was just smothered by all the other dumb shit that I forgot it.

And you know, Luke makes me think of another thing that pissed me off. Where was the technobabble? Trek is famous for explaining the scientific shit that is going on (beyond an erroneous mention of cold fusion) and even when it isn't exactly real science the explanations are part of the fun and at least lend whatever plot point is going on some form of credence.

Check this shit out! Kasey was just offered his first gallery show at a cafe/gallery in nearby Chapel Hill/Carrboro. He will have 20 of his photographs on display for sale! There will be 2 other artists showing and they're having a wine tasting and live music too. It's during their Art Walk and the gallery owner says it will be packed and to expect to sell prints.

Kasey got word that his first choice college, Warren Wilson, has awarded him what amounts to a full scholarship (he'd only have to pay $1,000 for the whole year). It's a pretty big deal private college (James Franco studied writing/poetry there) and we had all but moved on because it costs $38,000 a year.

The admissions counselor said it is the highest scholarship award she's ever seen. So very proud of him!
