2005 Philadelphia Film Festival

Next month, this years Philadelphia Film Festival starts off. I don't know what the full schedule is yet, but there are already three announcements I'm excited about.

  1. The opening night film is called FERPECT CRIME by Alex de la Iglesia, who I would put in the same level as Peter Jackson and Takashi Miike for making fun, kick-ass movies. This one's a black comedy (most of his movies are) about the politics in the women's section of a Madrid department store. I can guarantee you from watching a few of his past films, this will be worth catching. If you don't believe me, his entry in last year's festival, called 800 BULLETS is coming out on DVD this month. Watch it. If you can find a torrent somewhere, check out a few of his other films like DAY OF THE BEAST and ACTION MUTANTE.

  2. Malcom McDowell will be getting an artistict acheivement award and screen his newest film called EVILENKO and they'll also be screening A CLOCKWORK ORANGE.

  3. Steve Buscemi will be there to screen his latest film, LONESOME JIM.

Tickets start going on sale around March 20th/21st.
